Over the last decades, the clearing of snow and ice on the start and runways, taxiways and the apron has been tried and tested using the snow sweepers.

For clearing widths of up to 5.40m this technique ensures an effective and quick clearing of the mentioned areas in order to maintain flight operations even during heavy snowfall. The combination of ploughing, sweeping and final blowing off of the areas ensures the retention of the required friction on the transport areas of the airport, in particular the start and the runways.

Using snowploughs with and without side flaps the taxiways and parking areas can be efficiently cleared of snow for the aircrafts.

The use of drawn sweepers in combination with a front plough can be a useful complement to the above mentioned clearing gear for snow site clearance on the taxiways and parking areas within the airport. Clearing equipment with up to a working width of 5m can also be used.

For preventive de-icing, in particular on the start and runways, sprayers with a working width of up to 48m can be used. Depending on the width of the runway and the requirements of the airport, the casting distances can be individually adjusted as needed. A combination of sprayers and spreaders for solid and liquid spreading materials is possible and ensures the use of the equipment both on the start and the runways and on the other operational areas of an airport.

For the quick evacuation of large amounts of snow both snowthrowers and Snowblowers can be used. Up to 8000 m3/h of snow can be cleared out.
